How PerfHawk uses cookies
PerfHawk runs on the smallest possible set of cookies. We use no tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies — only what is strictly necessary to sign you in and keep our forms safe.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let the site remember information between requests — for example, that you are signed in — so it works correctly and securely from one page to the next.
Our approach
We keep cookies to a strict minimum. PerfHawk sets cookies only when they are required to operate the service — chiefly to maintain your authenticated session. We do not use cookies to profile you or to track your activity across other sites.
Our product analytics run on a self-hosted, privacy-friendly Umami instance that is configured to be cookieless: it sets no cookies and does not collect personal data.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary — PerfHawk
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| perfhawk_auth | Session identifier used for authentication. Set only when you sign in, subscribe, or perform an action that requires an authenticated session. | Session (cleared when you close your browser) |
| perfhawk_remember_me | Optional. Keeps you signed in across browser sessions. Set only if you tick “Remember me” at sign-in. | 1 week |
Third party — Cloudflare Turnstile
We use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our public forms (such as the contact form) from automated abuse, without the usual “click the traffic lights” puzzles. Turnstile may set the following cookie:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| cf_clearance | Confirms you passed the anti-abuse challenge so you can submit a protected form. | Up to 30 minutes |
For details, see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
When cookies are set
If you simply browse our public pages, no cookies are set. They appear only when you interact:
perfhawk_auth— when you sign in or take an action that requires an account.perfhawk_remember_me— only if you tick “Remember me” at sign-in.cf_clearance— when you complete a Turnstile challenge on a protected form.
Managing cookies
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can change your settings to refuse or delete them. Because the cookies above are strictly necessary, disabling them affects how the service works:
- Blocking
perfhawk_authprevents you from signing in. - Blocking
perfhawk_remember_memeans you will be asked to sign in on every visit. - Blocking Cloudflare cookies may prevent you from submitting protected forms.
